American TFP director C. Preston Noell III delivered a talk on the principles of outstanding Catholic leadership.
On May 18, Tradition, Family, Property (TFP) – Texas hosted its first regional conference at the Italian Cultural Community Center in Houston. The event drew concerned Catholics from the region who were willing to take a stand in the public square.
The five-hour event consisted of a May crowning, three talks, and light refreshments. Everything seemed to pass quickly as all gathered to honor God and Our Lady and to strengthen themselves for the spiritual and moral struggle for Mary’s reign.
Expression of Palpable Tenderness
The event began solemnly with a procession of Our Lady into the auditorium as all sang the “Salve Regina.”
The event began solemnly with a procession of Our Lady into the auditorium as all sang the “Salve Regina.” She was crowned with a magnificent crown of fragrant roses and lilies. To finish, everyone sang the “Regina Caeli.” Many were impressed at the palpable expression of tenderness conveyed by Our Lady’s countenance.
The Crisis of America
The conference’s three talks aimed to orient, re-energize and mobilize participants for the good fight. America Needs Fatima custodian, Ben Broussard, addressed the need for a strong devotion to Our Lady for all those who combat evil. He cited many historical episodes including the miraculous victory of outnumbered Catholics in the Philippines over the Protestant Dutch.

Lastly, American TFP Vice President John Horvat II, author of Return to Order, addressed the moral crisis of America. He compared America to a house with a poisonous gas leak. Those inside feel pressured to break the windows and doors, and leave the fight. His talk was a call to plug the poisonous gas leaks and save the house rather than abandon it to total destruction. The root causes of the moral crisis shaking America needs to be addressed. Those who created the gas leaks must be denounced and resisted.
Keeping Body and Soul Together
The day ended with the recitation of the Holy Rosary and a light snack of wine and cheese. Conversations were lively as friends, both old and new, discussed the conference’s themes.
“I have never attended a bad talk by the TFP” said an enthusiastic Mr. Tom Schroeter. The joy and enthusiasm extended into early evening as eventually the last attendees had to be ushered out the door. The graces of the day were summed up well by Mrs. Anna Pitts, who said “After this conference, I am ready to go out and fight the good fight!”
