On May 14, 2019, members of Tradition, Family, Property–Texas joined other anti-abortion prayer warriors to protest a Planned Parenthood fundraiser called “Cocktail for a Cause.” The event was hosted by the Planned Parenthood Young Leaders at the Axelrad Beer Garden in Houston.
Pro-lifers held a banner that said, “Thou Shalt Not Kill! Stop Abortion!” Other signs highlighted women who regret their lost motherhood or invited cars to honk against abortion.
Those advocating child-killing were not happy at the sight of people witnessing to the Faith. They screamed insults and winced when many cars honked in rejection of the monstrous sin of procured abortion. The protest also included the praying of three rosaries and the singing of hymns in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Defending unborn babies is a heroic action that many pro-lifers do daily or weekly. The media do not praise these protests. Today’s decadent culture rejects and even harasses those who dare to challenge the culture of death. Those protesting at the Planned Parenthood fundraiser could not help but recall the cowardly actions of Brian Sims, a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. His prolonged, verbal harassment of an elderly, respectful pro-life lady in Philadelphia should be a reminder that those who defend the truth can expect to be persecuted.
She and all those who resist abortion can console themselves with the sublime words of Our Lord, “Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also” (John 15:20).
