TFP-LA First Call to Chivalry Spring Camp, March 9-11, 2012
March 14, 2012
During the weekend of March 9-11, young men from Texas and Louisiana converged on Camp Strake in Conroe, TX for TFP-LA’s first Call to Chivalry Spring Camp. In spite of the weekend’s severe thunder showers, the ambience was lively. In this picture, Mr. Ben Broussard of Lake Charles, LA gives a talk on the fiery apostle of Mary, Saint Louis de Montfort.
There is nothing better than a game of chess to sharpen one’s attention.
The rain couldn’t dampen the joy to be together of young men enthused with the spirit of chivaly.
Thankfully there was a sufficient brake in the rain for a couple of hours of outdoor games. Here participants use team work to form a pyramid.
Participants battle to capture each other’s flags.
In shield ball, the object of the games is to knock over the enemy shield with the ball.
President of TFP-LA, Mr. Thomas Drake, draws lessons for participants from the life and martyrdom of Saint John Ogilvie whose feast day fell on Saturday, March 10.
In spite of the camp being short in duration, all returned home more on fire with devotion to Our Lady and the spirit of chivalry. Directly in front of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima poses Mrs. Deborah Harvey who cooked and made all feel at home at Camp Strake.
